For this step of the EAR Project I took pictures of three posters that were like help wanted posters. The goal of the posters were to get people to join a club or go to an event. Poster 1: Join a BU Choir! I like that all the information I need is on the poster and that it is easy to find. I image of the music notes helps illustrate the choir and adds creativity to the poster. Another thing I like about the poster is that it groups similar things together. For example the poster has a box around the times the different choirs meet.
Poster 2: Earn Your BU Leadership Certificate This poster shows a lot of creativity by using pictures, colors, and different fonts. Although the poster has a lot of information, it does a good job at keeping things organized and not having it look overwhelming to the reader. It also groups information together like the first poster. I also like that this poster took another step forward and changed font sizes and color in order to help the reader find his/her way quickly within the poster.
Poster 3: Legal Orientation Social I think this poster is well done like the other two. It groups the information that people can read. One thing that I like about this poster was that it had bullet pointed each important fact and aligned them to make the poster look neat and clean. I like that for a big part of the poster they used a picture of a kid getting arrested by the police. I think that picture helps grab the reader’s attention and speaks for itself. I also liked that they used a slogan to also grab the reader’s attention.
My Poster: I decided to make my poster like a help wanted sign. All of these posters told students about a particular club or activity that he/she could join. In my research I found that students get along better with their female teachers than their male teachers. The students I interviewed gave character traits and actions the teachers took in order to explain why they felt that they got along with female teachers more. Instead of saying that female teachers are better than male teachers, I decided to put all of the things that make up a good teacher, according to students, and put it in a help wanted poster as a way for employers to know what to look for in future teachers.
